Dubai: The UAE has introduced four new visit visa categories, marking significant changes to the visa rules and guidelines. The latest visa rules were announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship and Customs and Port Security (ICP) on September 29. The UAE’s new visa updates include categories for AI specialists, entertainment travellers, cruise ship visitors, and event attendees. 

Updated visa rules
Humanitarian Residence Permit 
It is issued for a period of one year. The Authority decides the extension of the validity in accordance with specific guidelines.
Residence permit for a foreign widow or divorcee
It is granted for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a similar period, subject to specific conditions. 

Visit visa for a friend or relative
This visa allows the sponsorship of a friend or a relative up to the third degree, based on the sponsor’s income. 
Business Exploration Visa
It requires financial solvency to establish a company, ownership of a share in an existing company outside the country, or a proven professional practice. 

Truck driver visa
Requires the presence of a sponsor as well as health and financial guarantees. 
Clear schedules that specify the authorised duration of stay for each visa type and the conditions for extension have also been released. The new visa updates have been launched to attract expatriates with exceptional skills and expertise to the UAE.
