Owing to a technical glitch of the air traffic control system (ATC), over 100 flights are delayed at the Delhi airport (Indira Gandhi International Airport) this morning. The authorities are working towards fixing the issue and released an advisory, which said, "The team is actively working with all stakeholders including DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) to resolve it at the earliest." According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the chaos was caused by a technical issue with the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS). Therefore, the controllers are manually processing flight plans. Last evening too, a similar problem and server outage led to a delay of around 20 flights at Delhi airport. The whole week, too, other similar issues had surfaced at the airport due to GPS spoofing incidents that disrupted air traffic navigation systems.

What should passengers know?
1) Authorities have advised them to be in touch with airlines for the latest updates.
2) Many airlines have asked passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
3) Air India passengers are offered on-ground assistance at the airport, said the airline.
4) Indigo and SpiceJet said many of their flights in the northern region are affected due to the delay.
5) Be ready for changes in gate numbers, extra waiting time, check-in and boarding timings.

Flyers raise concerns
On various airlines' social media pages, flyers are raising multiple concerns they are experiencing due to the incident. One of the passengers said on the X page of Indigo that at the Delhi airport, the flyers are made to wait on board the plane for more than 4 hours. "Delays are understandable, at this moment you can rather cancel the flight and spare them the misery," said a post on Indigo's page. Certain passengers are also speculating that flights are getting delayed due to the poor air quality and climate of Delhi. Air India passengers are also requesting refunds as connection flights are delayed. A handful of passengers are complaining about a lack of proper communication and a shortage of snacks at the airport.
