New Delhi: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the much-awaited Vande Bharat sleeper train service will be launched this month itself. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first service on the Guwahati (Assam)–Howrah (Kolkata) route between January 15 and 20.

The fabulous reception of the chair cars, which made daytime journeys incredibly comfortable, had inspired the authorities to launch sleeper trains with modern facilities. The train, which can accelerate to 180 kilometres per hour, will have 16 coaches to accommodate up to 833 passengers.

Services, including airline catering, will be available in the sleeper train. The estimated ticket fares range from ₹2,000 in third AC to ₹3,600 in first AC, including food. The minister said that excellent berths, automatic doors, the KAWACH safety feature, an emergency talk–back system, and a clean, oxygen-filled atmosphere have been arranged in the train, ensuring jerk-free travel.

The indigenously built train will feature some fantastic facilities. The authorities said the railway will be able to launch eight more trains in 6 months. Meanwhile, 12 Vande Bharat trains will run services in various parts of the country by December this year. Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that the bullet train service will be launched in the country by 2027.
