Thrissur: The passenger train service on the Thrissur–Guruvayur route, which was cancelled during the COVID period, has been resumed. This train will run as the Thrissur –Guruvayur passenger (56115/56116) every evening. The train departs at 6.10 pm and arrives in Thrissur by 6.50 pm. Meanwhile, the return service starts at 8.10 pm and reaches Guruvayur at 8.45 pm. Both services will stop at Poonkunnam. As the train is scheduled to depart at 6 pm, it can benefit devotees visiting the renowned Guruvayur temple as well as other passengers travelling to Thrissur. 

It was Central Minister Suresh Gopi who announced on his social media handle that the Thrissur–Guruvayur passenger service has been resumed. He also thanked the railway ministry and the officials for approving the suggestion to resume this popular service. Besides, passengers have also been urging the authorities through various social media platforms to restart the train service. 

Although all the services that were temporarily cancelled during the COVID period had resumed, Thrissur–Guruvayur hadn’t begun yet. Various rail organisations and passengers have also been urging the authorities to restore passenger trains on this route.
