The KSRTC has opened a window to Kerala's past, by launching a nostalgia-inducing vintage bus. The green-coloured bus, complete with round front lights, the age-old Ashok Leyland logo, and an eighties-style windshield, was flagged off at the Kowdiar Palace by KSRTC Minister KB Ganesh Kumar. The bus will ply from Peroorkada to Kizhakekotta, with nine services daily, from 7.15 am to 5.35 pm. A full trip lasts half an hour.

It was Minister KB Ganeshkumar who instructed the building of a vintage bus, on the lines of those found in many European countries. The bus can accommodate up to 52 passengers and charges Rs 20 for a full trip. Those interested in hiring it for tourist trips or weddings can contact the Peroorkada depot on 9188933715.

The oldest vehicle in KSRTC
The oldest existing KSRTC bus is a depot van with registration number KLX 109. The bus, commissioned in 1973, was in service at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station under the number T-682. It was taken to the Chalakudy depot in 1978 after minor accidents and has been used as a depot van there.
