New train from Ernakulam to Velankanni to be flagged off on Wednesday: Timings, stations

The third train service from Ernakulam to Velankanni begins on March 18. The service, announced on a new route and with a new timetable, will also be the first train from Southern Kerala to Thanjavoor. The current Ernakulam-Velankanni Express is a biweekly train. This train operates from Ernakulam on Saturdays and Mondays, and from Velankanni on Sundays and Tuesdays. Meanwhile, the new train will be flagged off on Wednesday night from Ernakulam. This inaugural service reaches Velankanni by Thursday evening via Madurai and Thiruchirappally.
Timings and stations
With the addition of the new train, passengers will get a service from Kollam to Tamil Nadu via Punalur in the morning. The new Ernakulam – Velankanni Express starts at 11.50 pm on Wednesdays from Ernakulam and reaches Kollam at 3 am, Kundara at 3.28 am, Kottarakkara at 3.38 am, Avaneeshwaram at 3.48 am, Punalur at 4.20 am, 5.18 am at Thenmala, 7.05 am at Shengottai, 7.28 am at Thenkasi, 11 am at Madurai, Thiruchirappally at 1.35 pm, 2.33 pm at Thanjavoor and 5.35 pm at Velankanni.
Return service
The return service starts at 7.45 pm from Velankanni and reaches Thanjavoor at 10.08 pm, 11.25 pm at Thiruchirappally, 1.20 am at Madurai, Thenkasi at 4 am, Shengottai at 4.30 am, 5.38 am at Thenmala. 6.45 am at Punalur, 7.03 am at Avaneeshwaram. 7.13 at Kottarakkara, 7.23 at Kundara, 8.10 am at Kollam and at 11.55 am at Ernakulam.
