Time and again, there have been headlines about the quality of food, even on premium trains like Vande Bharat, not being satisfactory. In the latest incident, a passenger found worms in the curd served on the Patna-Tatanagar Vande Bharat Express a few days ago. The Railways fined both the IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) and the vendor, Krishna Enterprises, for negligence in handling the food.
Many on social media opine that one should exercise caution while ordering food even on high-priced trains, as the food vendors haven't yet reached a satisfactory level of service. How can a passenger file a complaint if the food they got on a Vande Bharat train isn't good?

How to file a complaint?
1. Call or SMS the number 139 with details of the complaint.
2. Download the Railmadad app and file the complaint with specifics.
3. Make sure that you complain during the journey itself.
4. Keep a photo or video of the poor-quality food with you, as proof.
5. Include specifics of the food quality. For eg, the curry is spoiled/there are worms in the curd, etc.

A few months ago in Kerala too, the Southern Railway had cancelled the contract with Brindavan Food Products due to poor quality of the food served on Vande Bharat. Photo: T S Pranav

A few months ago, Southern Railway in Kerala also cancelled the contract with Brindavan Food Products due to the poor quality of food served on the Vande Bharat. Currently, the Casino Air Caterers and Flight Services (CAFS) curates the menu and distributes food on the Vande Bharats here.
