How a disability turned this Navy man into a legal academic

  • October 15 , 2025

At 21, Aravind J was a proud youth. He had landed a job as a Navy Sailor, but had to quit after an accident injured his spinal cord and left him paralysed below the waist. In the years to come, the Perinthalmanna native would clear LLB and banking examinations to become a banker. But the indifference of those around him pushed him to leave the job. After completing his LLM, he joined as an Assistant Professor at the School of Indian Legal Thought, under the Department of Law at Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
