Kerala women marry late, happy being unmarried

Kerala women are increasingly choosing to marry later — or not at all. An Onmanorama analysis of SRS data shows that the mean age of marriage for women in Kerala has risen from 23.8 to 24.5 over a decade, while more than one in five women remain unmarried. Education, career aspirations, financial independence and the search for emotional, intellectual and political compatibility are reshaping ideas around marriage.
