How 2 Malayalis are reimagining 19th-century Cochin temple ceiling

What happens when a 19th-century Kerala temple ceiling, stripped of 25 of its original 45 panels, is brought back to life in London? Stored at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum for more than seven decades, the historic Cochin temple ceiling is now being conserved and reconstructed. Malayali artist Devi Seetharam and designer-architect Ananth Ramaswamy have been chosen to reimagine the 25 missing panels. The new panels will be unveiled alongside the surviving 19th-century panels when the V&A’s transformed South Asia Gallery opens in spring 2028. Producer: Haritha Benjamin | Edits: Akhil PS
