During his Kerala stint as an IAS officer, Gyanesh Kumar faced serious allegations of corruption. He was removed as the PWD secretary in 2006. Inspite of the grave nature of complaints, he secured deputation and left Kerala. A Malaysian project manager's suicide note allegedly mentioned his name.
