Tamil Nadu launches gold ring scheme for newborns | Who is eligible?

Tamil Nadu CM C Joseph Vijay has launched a 22-carat, one-gram gold ring scheme for newborn babies. The ‘Thaaimaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam’ aims to promote maternal and child health and encourage deliveries at government hospitals.
The state government has allocated an annual budget of Rs 755.83 crore and procured 1.28 lakh gold rings for the initial rollout.
