Varsity students call to stand by the mentally challenged

Karyavattom: The students of Kerala University marked the World Mental Health Day by affirming that the mentally challenged should not be left out by the society. The programme held on the occasion was jointly organised by the students of Master of Social Work, and Azaadi, Kerala University departments union. Arts programmes by mentally challenged students were also held.

The students of SIMC Pangappara and Karunya BUDS school, Vengodu, also presented arts programmes. They also exhibited and marketed the handicraft products made by them.

The programme, named 'Violin,' was inaugurated by prof Antony Palaykkal at the seminar hall at 10 am.

The World Health Organization observes the World Mental Health Day on October 10 for raising awareness on mental health issues and mobilising support in this regard. "Young people and mental health in a changing world" is the theme for this year.
