Exciting competitions highlight of 'Prodigy 2018'

Karyavattom: More than 250 students from various colleges across Kerala participated in Prodigy 2K18 event organised by the Department of Economics, University of Kerala. The two-day programme, the 10th edition of the annual event, was inaugurated on Monday at the Economics department, the first be formed in the University, in memory of its maiden head Prof.V.R.Pillai.

Inaugurating the function on Monday, alumnus Jiji Thomson I.A.S, former Kerala Chief Secretary, nostalgically recalled his studies at the college.

Dr.A.Abdul Salim, Head of the Economics department, presided over the function.

“Prodigy 2k18 was conducted on the theme of survival after the flood,” said Arunkumar R, a student of the department.

Athul Sulekha, Chairman of the Departments Union, Meera Parvathy and Athira Ajay, students of the department participated in the inaugural function. The family members of Prof.V.R.Pillai also attended the function.

The 10 competition events included the PRODIGY-personality contest, ‘Q’UIZINE-quiz contest, CHASE DE TESORO- treasure hunt, THE WHACKY-spelling bee contest, OECONOMICUS-the best economist, CLICK-A-STORY-spot photography, SWA.LE: The Staff Reporter (investigative journalism), PEINTURE DE VISAGE-face painting, GAME OF CHANCE-brand Bingo contest and SAYCHEESE-online selfie contest.

The valedictory function was presided over by Dr.A.Abdul Salim. R.Ramachandran Nair I.A.S, former Chief Secretary delivered the valedictory address.

Prizes were distributed by Lekshmi Ramachandran, wife of R.Ramachandran Nair.

Felicitation was by Vishnu.K.P on behalf of the Researcher’s Union, the University of Kerala.

The programme was followed by a band performance.
