While most parts of Kerala have recovered from the devastating floods that occurred last year, there still linger many economic and emotional spectres.

As rehabilitation efforts progressed throughout the state, schools were converted into refugee camps for the millions displaced, and children's education found itself taking a back seat. Though with the help of humanitarian organisations and government aids much has improved, there are still many who find it difficult to continue further studies as funds were diverted for more immediate needs like having a roof above the head, proper sanitation, and in reclaiming some sense of normality.

Many dreams have thus been put on hold, or forever lost.

University of Glasgow is hoping to revive some of those dreams by offering four exclusive scholarships to four students from Kerala who are facing challenges in progressing onto postgraduate education.

The University of Glasgow Kerala Scholarship which offers 10,000 GBP is available to students from the state entering any of the University's post-graduate programme which ranges from Film Making and Media Arts to Applied Mathematics.

To avail the scholarship the applicant must demonstrate academic excellence and have had grades equivalent to a UK degree 2:1 Hons or better. They must also already have an offer of a place in any of University of Glasgow's postgraduate programme. The scholarship forms can be found here.

The deadline for the application is 30th April 2019.
