Vishnu Vinod first among JEE Main candidates from Kerala

Kottayam: Vishnu Vinod from here stood first among candidates from Kerala in the JEE Main examination held for entry into top engineering colleges in the country.

He cleared the tough entrance exam in his second attempt and was ranked 35 overall in the national list.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the result of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, 2019, on Monday.

Vishnu was a student of the K E School at Mannanam, near Kottayam town. He is the son of Vinod Kumar and Chandni from Anakkara in Kumily, Idukki district. The family had moved to Gandhi Nagar on the outskirts of Kottayam town two years ago for Vishnu’s studies.

Vishnu’s brother Viswanath is his schoolmate.

A fan of football legend Lionel Messi, who is dubbed as 'the Messiah', Vishnu has a nickname among friends, ‘Messiah of ranks’. He has scored first rank in all exams from first standard.

A lover of books and cinema, Vishnu has won prizes in short-story writing too. He wishes to study at IIT Madras now.

In all 24 candidates won a perfect 100 in the JEE Main. The cutoff score for the general category is 89.75488. The combined score from both the phases of the entrance -- JEE Main and JEE Advanced will be considered as final score.

JEE Main was conducted twice in online mode from 8 to 12 January and 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 April.
