The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, the world's largest gathering of women in computing will take place, this year in October, in Orlando, USA.
The registration fees for the general category would up to Rs 80,000 and Rs 30,000 for students. The attendees have to bear the accommodation and travel expenses as well. However, scholarships are offered by many institutions and companies to the students to attend the conference. This year, Facebook offers scholarships for 50 students. The winners of the scholarship can also attend meetings with the engineers at Facebook. A stipend, too, would be provided to help the students meet their various expenses.
Requirements: The applicant must be a BTech/MTech student in computer science or related subjects like computer engineering, maths, statistics, and information systems. Those who are interns at Facebook need not apply.

At Bengaluru
The India chapter of the conference, organized by AnitaB.org would be held at Bengaluru from November 6 to 8. It would be Asia's largest gathering of women technologists. Scholarships are offered for MTech students, final year BTech students and research scholars. In 2017, 42 students from Kerala were awarded various scholarships. Many leading tech companies would be looking for smart and efficient candidates at this year's job fair, conducted as part of the conference. In 2017, three candidates from Kerala got placed in Microsoft through the job fair.

Amazing Grace Hopper experience
Nikita Malya, a native of Vadakara, got selected to attend the prestigious Grace Hopper Celebrations last year. A student of government model engineering college in Kochi, Nikita is excited to share her incredible experiences. Nikita says that it was amazing to meet more than 20,000 women from various countries, who are interested in technology, under the same roof. She was able to meet and talk to Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter and attended sessions conducted by many eminent personalities including Priscilla Chan, wife of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The career fair which features top names like Facebook, Google and Twitter is the main attraction of the conference, especially for young job aspirants. The participants can enquire about the opening and vacancies at the stall of any company. Nikita was able to gain incredible experience by attending interviews of many companies including Facebook.
Besides, it provides information about the various courses offered at the foreign universities. Scholarships details, too, are available. Nikita, who is all set to pursue her master's degree from the prestigious Columbia University, has no doubts when she says that she was greatly inspired by the unique experiences that she had gained at the Grass Hopper Celebration.
