Kasaragod twins bag top ranks in engineering entrance exam

Kanhangad: Twin brothers Sanjay Sukumaran and Saurav Sukumaran bagged the fourth and the eighth ranks in the engineering entrance exam, setting off double celebrations at the Sauparnika house at Mavungal in Kerala's Kasaragod's district. The results of the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance exams were declared on Monday.

Sanjay bagged the fourth rank by scoring 870 marks (out of 960), while Saurav scored 835 marks to secure the eighth rank.

The twins are now waiting for the results of JEE advanced exam. They are hoping for nothing but the best results in the national level test too. They both want to pursue electrical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras.

The twins studied till class 5 at the Amrita Vidyalayam at Kanhangad. Thereafter Sanjay studied at the Kannur Navodaya school, while Saurav studied at Periya Navodaya School till class 10. They were back together for their Plus-Two years at the St Antony's Public School at Kanjirappally in Kottayam. They prepared together for the highly competitive entrance exams.

Sanjay won the fifth rank and Saurav won the ninth rank in the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) entrance exam. The duo are also regular participants in quiz contests.

Their father C Narayanan conducts a business sector, while their mother C Sujatha is a civil police officer (CPO) at the Rajapuram police station. Their sister Sneha is an MSc Physics student at the Central University of Tamil Nadu.
