After a gap of five months, educational institutions in the southern state are reopening, following all standard operating procedures aimed at warding off the Coronavirus pandemic.

On Saturday, the Tamil Nadu government had allowed schools, colleges, cinemas, zoos and amusement parks to reopen by following Standard Operating Procedures.

classes for standards 9 to 12 alone shall be conducted. Though the government had earlier announced that students in classes from 10 to 12 would be permitted to go to schools voluntarily from October 1, the move was dropped subsequently in view of concerns over the virus spread.
