3-year LLB course: Online registrations till July 28

Thiruvananthapuram: Applications have been invited for the entrance exam for admission to the three-year LLB course at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode government law colleges and seven private self-financing law colleges in Kerala. Online registrations can be made till 4pm on July 28.

A total of 420 seats are at the government colleges, and 406 at the self-financing colleges. There is also reservation, as per the criteria of the Kerala government.

The application fee of Rs 685 can be paid online. For students in the SC/ST categories, the fee is Rs 345. The printout of the application need not be sent.

Candidates, who have completed graduation in any stream with 45 per cent marks, and students awaiting exam results can apply for the course. Candidates in the backward and SC/ST categories need 42 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively. Long-distance degree will also be accepted. But applicants who have secured graduation/post-graduation degree through open universities directly without the basic qualification are not eligible.

Candidates should secure a minimum of 10 per cent marks in the entrance exam to be considered for admission and candidates in the SC/ST category should get a minimum of 5 per cent. There is no lower age limit. And the upper age limit is subject to the Supreme Court's order.

The selection will be on the basis of the performance in the entrance exam. The two-hour computer-based entrance exam will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Palakkad and Kannur. The date and time of the exam would be notified later.

There will be a total of 200 objective questions - general English (60), general knowledge (45), maths and mental ability (25), and aptitude for legal studies (70).

Each correct answer will fetch three marks and 1 mark will be deducted for the wrong answer.

The centralised allotment process will be followed for allotment to various colleges. The last six months of the final year of the course will be practical training.
