Kottayam: New buildings will be constructed in 10 schools in Kerala's Kottayam district at a cost of Rs 18.80 crore.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will virtually inaugurate the construction on September 14.
The inauguration of the Thazhathuvadakara Lower Primary School building, constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore, will also be held.
The Chief Minister will also inaugurate the renovated labs at higher secondary schools.
New works
New buildings will be constructed for schools in Ettumanoor, Poonjar, Kanjirappally, and Kottayam legislative assembly constituencies.
As per the contract the construction has to be completed in a year. So far, 16 school buildings have been constructed in three phases.
In Ettumanoor constituency
A high school block for the SKV Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) at Neendoor will come up at a cost of Rs 1 crore and a new higher secondary block will cost Rs 2.19 crore.
A higher secondary block will be constructed at the Arpookkara Medical College GVHSS for Rs 1 crore. A building will be constructed at the government Girls HS at Ettumanoor using Rs 4.25 crore.
In Poonjar constituency
Constructions will be carried out at Kombukuthi GHS and Panakachira GHS for Rs 2 crore each. The construction at the Erattupetta GHSS will be carried for Rs 1 crore.
In Kanjirappally constituency
Buildings will be constructed at Kunnumbhagam GHS for Rs 2 crore and at the NSS Government LP School at Vazhoor for Rs 1.36 crore.
In Kottayam constituency
A Rs 2-crore building will be constructed at Vadavathoor GHS.
Modern facilities
All classrooms will have digital facilities, including digital libraries, as well as modern labs and washrooms.
Funds from the NABARD, KIIFB, MLA as well as plan allocation will be utilised.
