Kerala varsities postpone examinations in light of incessant rains

Thiruvananthapuram: In light of the incessant rains and floods in Kerala, several universities in the state have postponed examinations scheduled this week.

Kerala University, Calicut University and Cochin University have postponed all examinations until October 23 while Kannur University has postponed examinations until October 22.

Kerala University of Health Sciences which falls under the purview of the Health Department has postponed examinations scheduled on Wednesday. However, classes will continue as usual.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts entrance exam for admission to Fine Arts colleges in Kerala has been postponed to October 26.

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has postponed spot admission activities scheduled between October 21-23 to dates 27-29.

The State has directed that no examinations can be conducted until after October 23. However, admission-related activities can continue, it said.

Kerala has been battered by a slew of landslides and flash floods for the past few days.

With more heavy rains forecast in the coming days, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had earlier pushed the full-scale reopening of colleges and higher educational institutions to October 25.

The government has urged people to take all necessary precautions.
