Apply now for D.El.Ed: Last date for application, November 23

Applications are invited for admission to two categories of teacher training courses in Kerala. The detailed notification including the list of affiliated schools is available in the website education.kerala.gov.in/.

D.El.Ed – Diploma in Elementary Education has replaced the old TTC/DEd courses. The last date for application is 23 November. This two year full time diploma course trains teachers for primary level and makes them eligible for securing jobs at the LP/UP classes in the government and aided schools. The candidates have to pass plus two with at least 50% marks, within three chances. In case the candidate had attended the SAY exam, it would be considered as an additional chance. Meanwhile, backward communities require 45% marks.

There are no marks and chance restrictions for scheduled castes/tribes. The lower age limit for the applicants is 17 years and the upper age limit is 33 years as on July 1, 2021. Meanwhile, it is 36 and 38 respectively for the backward/scheduled communities. Ex-servicemen would be allowed age relaxation for the duration of their service period. Seats have been allotted in the 40:40:20 ratio for Science, Humanities and Commerce subjects. Reservation seats are there in various categories. Check the notification in the website for more details about minority/management/service quota and Tamil/Kannada teachers.

The application should be prepared in the format that has been published alongside the notification. The applicants should paste a court fee stamp of Rs 5 on the form and send it along with the copies of the certificates to the deputy education director of any revenue district, within November.23 Candidates who belong to the scheduled communities need not paste the stamp. The applicants cannot send the applications to more than one district. The address and the phone numbers of the deputy education directors are in the notification.

A special notification too has been published regarding admission to self-financing schools.

Nursery Teacher Education – The last date for applying for the two-year full-time course for pre-primary teacher training is November.20 The applicants should pass plus two, securing at least 45% marks. Meanwhile, backward communities require 43%. Scheduled caste/tribes only need to pass plus two. The lower age limit is 17 years and the upper age limit is 33 years as on June 1 2021. Meanwhile, it is 36 and 38 respectively for backward/scheduled communities. Besides, teachers in the approved institutions will get a relaxation of 1 year for every two years of service subject to a maximum relaxation of up to 3 years.

Those who have excelled in music, dance, and drama in the state youth festivals are eligible for a relaxation of 5% marks. Besides, applicants who produce certificates of excellence in sports are eligible for weightage marks too.

The application has to be prepared in the format that is given in the website. The application along with self-attested certificates/documents should reach the desired schools within 5 pm on 20 November. Besides the three government institutes in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, and Kozhikode, there are 9 more approved self-financing institutes across the state.
