64.2% job aspirants in Kerala have excellent employability skills, reveals national survey

Thiruvananthapuram: The youths from Kerala have bagged third place in the employment skill ranking in the country. Kerala, which did not even find 10th place in this category in the Indian Skill Survey being held from 2016, came third this time.

Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh bagged the first and second positions. According to the survey, 64.2 per cent of job aspirants from Kerala have excellent employment skills.

The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) under the leadership of the Union Labour Ministry and with the help of various universities and industrial units conducts this survey every year.

In English language skills among youths, Kerala came within the 10 rankings. But in computer skills and mathematical skills, Kerala fared poorly.

The survey points out that though Kerala is home to a large number of skilled youths, there are very less employment opportunities in the State compared to many other States. As per the survey, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu generate maximum jobs in India.

Thiruvananthapuram bagged the third place for having the maximum number of skillful graduates in India. Pune and Lucknow bagged the first and second places. Both men and women prefer Bangalore to other cities as their employment destination . Women also like Kochi and Hyderabad as their employment destinations, apart from Bangalore.

Women having excellent employment skills hail from States such as Telangana, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh. According to the survey, most of the skilled men hail from Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala.

As per the 2021 statistics, 41 percent of female graduates gots jobs while 39 percent of male graduates bagged jobs.

During the period 2014-21, women got more jobs in the country. The percentage of women getting jobs in the IT sector is 54.5.

IT offers maximum job opportunities

Information Technology (IT) offers maximum job opportunities in the country right now. The percentage of job generation for the IT sector is 47 percent.

Now, BTech graduates are getting the maximum number of jobs, followed by MBA graduates. Those who have learnt BA, B.Com, ITI, BSc, MCA, polytechnic and BPharm are also getting good job options.
