CBSE invites applications for single girl child scholarship

The Government of India has instituted many incentives and scholarships for single girl child in families in order to encourage them in attaining greater achievements in education. These projects aim to promote the idea of small families too.

Online applications are now invited by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for merit scholarships for single girl child.

The last date for application is 17 January.

Eligibility
The single girl child should be the only child in the family. The applicants should have passed CBSE class 10 with at least 60% marks and should be studying in CBSE class 11.

Benefit
The eligible candidates would get Rs 500 per month for two years, in their bank accounts. The monthly tuition fee shouldn’t exceed Rs 1,500. However, this could be up to Rs 6,000 for NRI students. The scholarship amount is likely to go up by 10% next year.

The beneficiaries of this scholarship can avail other scholarships along with this one.

Renewal allowed
The beneficiaries need to renew the scholarship in the following year. Students who score at least 50% marks in class 11 would be eligible for renewal.
