Note these syllabus changes for graduate-level exams of PSC

The syllabus of the graduate-level exams for recruitment to the posts of sub-inspector and secretariat assistant has been published by the Kerala Public Service Commission.

In-depth study of the topics is required as it is a graduate-level exam. The candidates could answer the questions that are in statement forms only if they study the topics in detail.

Topics for uniform posts
Apart from including a special topic that carries 20 marks, there are no too many changes in the syllabus, from the preliminary exams, for the uniform posts.

The Science and Technology section has been replaced with Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The ‘Constitution’ section has been given prominence for the uniform posts and an additional 8 marks too has been introduced.

Meanwhile, all other sections have been retained.

Additional topic for assistant posts
The topic of ‘Kerala administration’ carrying 10 marks is included for the posts of secretariat assistant and sales assistant. The rest of the syllabus remains the same.

The topic ‘India in the Middle Ages’ has been avoided in the History and Geography sections. Meanwhile, agriculture, crops and Goods and Services Tax have been newly added in the Economics section.

Higher secondary text books would come in handy while preparing the History, Geography and Economics sections. The ‘Kerala History’ text book prescribed by the distance education centre of the Calicut University could be referred while preparing for the topic History of Kerala.

What are common
The syllabus for Constitution is the same for uniform posts and non-uniform posts. The candidates could refer to the higher secondary level Political Science text books to study this topic. The topics on ‘Commissions’ and ‘Tribunals’ should be learned in–depth.

The topics from the Civics section in the preliminary exam has been included in the Kerala Administration section. More questions have been included in this section for non-uniform posts.

Meanwhile, in the Science section, topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics are included. Questions of 10 marks will be there from these topics for the uniform posts, while it would be 12 marks for the non-uniform posts. Text books of classes 8 to 10 of State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT-Kerala) could be referred.

The topics from Art, Sports, Literature and Culture have been retained. For the uniform posts, there will be questions of only 8 marks from the Current affairs section. However, for other posts, there would be questions for 15 marks. Besides, ‘Important Laws’ have been newly added for 5 marks.

English, Maths, Malayalam and Mental Ability will have questions for 30 marks, as usual. Meanwhile, special topic for 20 marks have been added for the uniform posts.
