New Delhi: Engineering aspirants are likely to get only two, instead of four attempts to appear for the JEE – Main, the national level entrance test for admission to engineering courses.

Last year, the JEE – Main was held four times. The delay in holding the exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been cited as the reason to cut down the number of attempts.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) informed that the final decision regarding this would be taken soon and that the dates of the examination would be announced shortly.

Last year, the first attempt of the JEE – Main was held during February. However, this time, not even the time table has been announced so far.

The registration is likely to begin by the end of this month while the first stage of the exam would reportedly be held in April.

Moreover, the delay in announcing the dates of the second term exams of classes 10 and 12 of various school boards too have shrunken the window of entrance exams, if admissions are to be conducted on time this year.
