Kerala MCA: Apply online, entrance test on June 12

Master of Computer Applications is an advanced course that opens amazing career opportunities in the field of software development. The applications for the two-year MCA courses in 41 government aided institutes in Kerala that are recognised by All-India Council for Technical Education could be submitted from today until June 1.

More seats or institutes are likely to be allowed.

The entrance test has been scheduled on 12 June from 10 am to 12 pm at the centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode.

The 120-minute exam will have 120 Multiple–Choice objective questions. There will be questions from Computer Science (50), Maths and Statistics (25), Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Ability (25), English (15) and General Knowledge (5).

The Maths and Statistics questions will be of Plus-Two level, while degree level questions should be expected in the Quantitative Aptitude section.

The syllabus has been published in the prospectus.

The application fee is Rs 1,200; it is Rs 600 for Scheduled Caste/Tribe categories.

Eligibility
Those who are graduates in BCA, BSc Computer Science/ IT, BCom or BVoc can apply. The applicants should have studied Maths as a core subject in Plus-Two or for graduation. In case, they haven’t, the candidates should pass specified ‘bridge course’. Bridge courses in computer-related subjects too would be introduced, if required.

The applicants should score at least 50% marks in the qualifying exam. Candidates from reserved categories require 45%.

Final-year students who can submit the mark list during the time of admission too would be considered. Candidates hailing from any part of India can apply.

However, the reservation benefits are applicable only for Keralites. Reservations are available for economically weaker sections as per the guidelines of Kerala Professional Courses.
