SAHITHAM portal to enable holistic assessment of students in public schools

Thiruvananthapuram: A portal aimed at facilitating the holistic assessment of students who study in public educational institutions is set to be launched in Kerala. Minister of General Education V Sivankutty will launch the portal named ‘SAHITHAM’.

The portal, which has been designed by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE) in association with State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), is likely to be inaugurated this month itself.

The project aims to appoint teachers as mentors for groups comprising stipulated number of students. These mentors would assess and evaluate the quality of the students in academic and other co–curricular activities too. The guidelines and parameters of the assessment would be published on the portal.

New academic projects would be introduced after scientifically assessing the standard of the students.

KITE CEO K Anwar Sadath said that the ‘SAHITHAM’ portal would function alongside the ‘SAMPOORNA’ portal that collects the details of the students who are currently studying in government schools. So, there is no need to add the names and other details of the students again in the new portal.
