BTech lateral entry: Apply until 11 July

Online applications for BTech lateral entry could be submitted from 13 June to 11 July. The application fee is to be paid online. The candidates could get admitted to the second year (third semester) of the engineering course and can complete it in just three years. All the engineering colleges in Kerala including government/ aided/ and self-financing private institutions offer this facility. This year, the admission process would be managed by the LBS Centre. The application fee is Rs 1000. Meanwhile, candidates of Scheduled Categories need to pay Rs 500. The details about the application procedure are given in the prospectus. Applicants can pay the fee using the challan of Federal Bank.

The two hour long entrance test would be held at centres at all the district headquarters in the state. The date of the entrance test would be announced later. Refer the prospectus in the website for detailed information. Meanwhile, the details about the seats and the colleges would be published before the allotment.

Eligibility
Those who have completed one of engineering/ technology diploma, vocational diploma (D.Voc) or BSc course pursued after plus two with Maths as a core subject, could apply. The applicants, however, should have scored 45% marks in these courses.

Candidates of scheduled categories and economically backward candidates require 40% marks. The applications of final year students too would be considered. They need to submit their certificates only during the time of admission. There is no upper age limit for applying. Those who haven’t studied Maths for plus two should complete a prescribed university/ college level bridge course. Meanwhile, there are stipulations for diploma holders in each stream regarding the subjects or streams that they could choose.

It must be noted that BSc graduates would be considered only for the remaining seats after admitting the candidates with diploma and D.Voc qualifications. In the government owned and aided colleges, the tuition fee for a semester is Rs 3150. Those who get admission should pay Rs 9725, that includes other fees, for the first semester.
