MASCOM invites applications for PG Diploma in Journalism, entrance test in July

Candidates who wish to build a career in journalism can apply to Manorama School of Communication (MASCOM) that offers courses in journalism studies.

The Post-Graduate Diploma in Journalism is a 10-month course that begins on 12 September. It is offered with two specialisations: i) print/ digital, ii) broadcast/ digital.

The applications should be submitted within 4 July by paying the application fee. There will also be an additional processing fee. Those who are applying offline should download the application form from the website.

The filled–in application should be sent along with a demand draft addressed to MASCOM that could be encashed at Kottayam. The application fee is Rs 590 for a course. Meanwhile, it is Rs 1,180 for two courses.

Eligibility
Graduates in any subject and those who are awaiting their final-year results can apply. The applicants should have impressive academic history, interest in current affairs, attractive writing skills and an aptitude for journalism as a career.

The tuition fee is Rs 1,25,000 for each course. Besides, there will be service taxes.

Medium of instruction
Even though the medium of instruction is English, the candidates could choose specialisation in English or Malayalam journalism.

Besides classroom sessions, field trips and interviews with eminent personalities, there will be intensive training in languages, reporting, editing, speed writing, lab papers, news bulletins, computer lessons, anchoring, videography and digital journalism.

Practical sessions in newspaper journalism, documentary making and studio-based programmes and internships too are part of the courses.

Selection
There will be an online entrance test on 23 July. The final selection will be based on the online interview scheduled on the second week of August.
