Music college student scripts success without letting disability bog her down

Mavelikkara: The sweet smell of success can be heady too especially if one had to overcome significant odds.

For S Kanmani, the first-rank holder in University of Kerala’s Bachelor of Performing Arts (Vocal) examination, the achievement is quite exciting. The native of Arunoottimanagalam has amazingly overcame disabilities to achieve academic success.

This brilliant student of Swathi Thirunal Government College of Music in Thiruvananthapuram was born without hands.

Kanmani’s parents G Sasikumar and Rekha are proud of their daughter’s achievements.

Manikandan, her brother, too is soaking in the jubilation.

Kanmani had been a singing star, since her school days, in the state youth festivals and other events. Besides, she has garnered countless awards and prizes for the pictures that she painted with her feet. Moreover, Kanmani has been earning quite a name, performing in concerts too.

In 2019, Kanmani, had won an award for excellence in artistic skills from the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. Kanmani films interesting incidents from her life and uploads them on her YouTube channel as she wishes to inspire others with her determination and passion for life.

Now, she wishes to join for post-graduation in music.
