KTU syndicate gives nod to begin BVoc courses from this academic year

Thiruvananthapuram: The syndicate at the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University has decided to begin Bachelor of Vocational Degree courses from this academic year onwards. This course will have the approval of All India Council for Technical Education. Meanwhile, a training centre in the model of UGC’s Academic Staff College, that provides training for the teachers and other officials will be inaugurated next month.

The syndicate has also approved the construction of a transit campus that includes a hostel complex that can accommodate up to two hundred students. The five new schools of the university would open at the transit campus.

The guidelines to conduct the first-ever union election in the university too have been approved. The university union would be sworn in by the first week of August. The syndicate gave its nod to begin the construction works at the site in Vilappilasala that was acquired to build the university’s permanent campus.

Meanwhile, the digital library for over forty colleges that are also research centres will be inaugurated on 26 July by Minister KN Balagopal.
