Thiruvananthapuram: The department of general education noted that the students who got admission for the plus one courses in the management quota can now take up the merit seats if they are included in the third allotment. However, this criterion is applicable only to those who got merit allotment to a different course or school. The transfer is not possible if the merit allotment is to the same course in the same school. But, confusion still prevails about this matter. The authorities of the education department said that such transfer is not allowed as the school authorities, who had received donation from the candidates, may change the quota without the student’s knowledge.

Meanwhile, many complain that this crisis has happened as admission to the management seats was allowed before completing the allotments and admission process in the merit seats. Many students have not been able to get through as the third allotment has been published by including the students who have already sought admission in the management and community quota.

“A special committee would be formed to study the issues related to admission to plus one courses. It will be a scientific study about the batches and the corresponding seats. After completing the admission process, there will be detailed inspections. Around 3,08,000 students would reach the schools to begin their plus one classes today,” V Sivankutty, Minister of General Education.

Third allotment

Thiruvananthapuram: The students who are included in the third allotment can secure admission at the schools until 5 pm today. Earlier, it was announced that the admission process closes at 5 pm on 24 August. Meanwhile, the notification for the supplementary allotment would be published soon. Those who weren’t considered for allotment as they gave wrong details in the application and did not give the final confirmation can submit new applications in this stage. Besides, those who haven’t applied until now too can apply for the supplementary allotment.

The applications for the supplementary allotment in the community quota at the schools run by backward and scheduled communities began yesterday. The rank list would be published on 29 August. They can secure admission until 31 August.

Meanwhile, the court still hasn’t taken a decision about the 10% community quota in the schools run by upper caste management and the 10% seats that were taken over by the state government from the independent management. If these seats continue in the merit quota, the allotment to these seats too would be done in the supplementary round. The admission based on the supplementary allotment will end on 30 September.
