Aspirants who dream an exciting and well-paying career as marine engineers in commercial ships can apply for the 12-month long ‘Marine Engineer’s Pre–Sea Training’ course at the noted defence public sector company Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineering Limited.
The last date for applying is 4 September.
The applicants should have passed graduation in one of Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Automation Engineering or Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering with 50% marks.
The selection would be based on the total marks scored by the candidate in the 7th and 8th semesters. Sandwich courses will not be allowed. Besides, the candidates should score 50% marks for English in classes ten or twelve or in graduation.
The candidates should be fit and healthy to satisfy the requirements of the course. A health certificate issued by the medical officer who has the approval of the Directorate General of Shipping should be presented at the time of admission.
The date of birth of the candidate should be after 1 September 1994. Meanwhile, age relaxations are available for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Tribe and backward categories as per the criteria of the central government.
There are up to 50 seats up for grabs.
The course fee is Rs 1,82,000; it is only Rs 1,72,900 for Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates. The amount should be paid in the form of a bank draft at the time of admission. Besides, there will be additional fees too.
The final certificate would be awarded after successfully completing the 12-month course and a six-month training in ship on the seas.
How to apply
The application fee is Rs 1,000. There is no such fee for Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates.
