Kerala engineering entrance: Vishwanath Vinod grabs first rank

Thrissur: Idukki Anakkara native Vishwanath Vinod bagged the first rank in the Kerala engineering entrance by scoring 596.8071 marks out of 600.

Meanwhile, Thomas Biju Cheeramvelil of Kakkanad Lane, Kesavadasapuram got the second rank (594.3207). The third rank was grabbed by Kollam Thirumullavaram native Navajyot B Krishnan with 589.6196 marks.

Minister R Bindu announced that the admission process would begin on 13 September. The candidates can submit options from that day onwards. Meanwhile, the commissioner of entrance examination K Imbasekhar said that the rank list of pharmacy and architecture entrance would be announced after Onam.

77,005 applicants had written the entrance test in around 346 centres; among them, 58,858 candidates qualified. 24,834 women candidates among a total of 36,766 applicants found spots in the rank list. Meanwhile, 26,024 out of 40,239 male candidates qualified the exam. However, there are only two women candidates in the first ten ranks. In the first one hundred ranks, 81 men and 19 women have been included.
