MoU signed between the Digital University of Kerala and foreign universities

To support the field of graphene, Digital University of Kerala has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Manchester, Oxford, Edinburg, and Saigon Universities in London. It was done in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Minister P Rajeev.

The CM also stated that the government had already started the process of installing a Graphene innovation park. The government will set up a science park close to the university to support technology-based knowledge industries in digital technology. The CM also said that being the prime institute that deals with the research and development of Digital Science and Technology, the govt has handed over the development of the digital science park to the digital university.

Manchester-based Andrew Jaime who won the 2010 Nobel prize for the discovery of Graphene was also present at the function. Andrew observed that the government’s initiative to promote the field of graphene will help in the future of Kerala. His disciple and Malayali Prof. Rahul Nair was also present at the function.

Prof. Harish Bhaskaran (Oxford University), Sethu Vijayakumar (Edinburgh University), Bhaskar Chaubey (Saigon University), Digital University Vice Chancellor Dr. Saji Gopinath, Prof. Alex James, etc spoke at the function. Chief Secretary VP Joy, and Planning Board Vice Chairman Dr. VK Ramachandran were also present.
