Malappuram: Several first-year students pursuing Diploma in Elementary Education (D El Ed) course may miss the Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test (KTET) as the the second semester examinations are delayed. The student have approached the Education Department, pointing out that they will lose one KTET bid.

November 7 is the last date to apply for KTET, but the D El Ed second semester exams have been scheduled from November 9 to 11.

The students are now forced to wait for at least six months for the next KTET, just because their semester exams got delayed by four days.

The D El Ed students who are studying in their third semesters are eligible to write the KTET. Usually, the students would get promoted to the third semester after completing the second semester exams by mid-October. This enabled the students to write KTET twice in the second half of the course. However, now, the students are worried that they would get only one chance this time.

D El Ed students can sit for KTET only if the last date to apply is pushed ahead.

Both the D El Ed exam and KTET are conducted by the Pareeksha Bhavan. The students are hopeful that the last date for application deadline for KTET would be extended.
