LIC scholarships for needy students: Last date to apply is December 18

The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has invited applications for its golden jubilee scholarships which support students belonging to indigent families. The last date to submit the online applications is December 18.

Twenty students in each division and 10 students in the special girl child section would be provided the scholarship.

Eligibility
The annual income of parents should not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. However, if the only breadwinner of the family is a woman, the income limit is Rs 4 lakh.

Only one student would be awarded the scholarship from a family.

Another condition says that applicants should have passed the Class 12 exam with at least 60 per cent marks in 2021-22.

Students who have cleared the Class 10 exam with a minimum of 60 per cent marks in 2021-22 are also eligible for the scholarship. They can utilize the scholarship amount for pursuing diploma / vocational / ITI courses.

At the same time, special girl child scholarship is reserved for female students who have passed the Class 10 exam with at least 60 per cent marks in 2021-22 for pursuing plus two / diploma/ vocational courses. The scholarship amount will not be paid for post-graduate studies.

The period of the special girl child scholarship is two years and an amount of Rs 20,000 will be transferred each year to the student’s bank account as three instalments.

Meanwhile, girl students having plus-two would be paid Rs 10,000.
