The Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, has invited applications for high school education for school students interested in joining the Defence Forces of India later on.

The applicants must be in their 7th grade of school as on 2024 January 1 or must have passed 7th grade. The age of the candidate must be between 11½ and 13½ years on the above-said date. (The Date of Birth should be between January 2, 2011 and July 1, 2012). There is no age relaxation in any category.

Once admitted, the student can study from 8th to 12th grade. Only the Science stream can be chosen for Plus 2. However, Social Sciences would also be taught considering the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination held by the Union Public Service Commission.

The Rashtriya Indian Military College is an inter-services institute that has trained many armed services officers including exemplary Defence chiefs. Here, children are specially trained in protecting the country right from their teenage and are guided into the army, navy and airforce wings of the Defence.

Course fee, scholarship

The annual fee is Rs 77,500. The fee is Rs 63,900 for Scheduled Caste/Tribe category cadets. Rs 30,000 Earnest Money must be paid by all applicants at the time of admission. The applicants may also receive a scholarship of Rs 27,000 instituted by the Kerala Government.

Written examination

The written examination would be conducted on June 3 at all State capitals including Thiruvananthapuram. The candidate must get a minimum score of 50 per cent in this test. Those who excel get to participate in the viva voce which evaluates intellect, personality, and communication skills. The candidates who clear this round will have to undergo a medical fitness examination at the mlitary hospital. Thereafter, the candidate must join within 10 days after intimation from the College.

How to apply

The application form, prospectus and former question papers can be availed after paying a fee of Rs 600 online through http://rimc.gov.in. Scheduled Caste/Tribe category applicants only need to pay Rs 555.

Later, a request letter must be sent addressed to The Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun - 248003 seeking the form, prospectus and the former question papers.

Where to send the application

The notification regarding admission to the RIMC is on the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan website – https://keralapareekshabhavan.in. After getting the form from Dehradun, it must be filled and enclosed with the stipulated documents and sent to ‘the Secretary, Pareeksha Bhavan, Poojappura, Thiruvananthapuram – 695012’, so that it is delivered within April 15. It must not be sent to Dehradun.
