Apply now for PG, PhD programs at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research

Applications are invited for the MSc Economics and PhD in Developmental Studies programs at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research in Goregaon, Mumbai, which is a pioneer institute in the filed of financial studies. This institute was established by the Reserve Bank of India, in 1987 and has the status of a university. The online applications could be submitted until 21 April. Website: www.igidr.ac.in.

MSc Economics: This is a two year long course. Those who have bachelors degree in Economics, Commerce, Statistics, Physics, Maths, Engineering/ Technology can apply.

The applicants need to have at least 55% marks for Economics alone and 60% marks for other subjects. Candidates belonging to the scheduled categories would get 5% relaxation in the minimum marks criteria. Besides, the applicants should have studied Maths at least in plus two. The students can avail various scholarships. Meanwhile, those who have completed MSc can directly apply for the PhD programs.

PhD in Developmental Studies: The program lasts for 4 -5 years. Those who have post graduation in one of Economics, Statistics, Physics, Maths, Environmental Sciences, Operations Research, Engineering, Technology and Business Administration can apply. The applicants should have scored at least 55% marks for Economics alone and 60% marks for other subjects. Candidates who have passed BTech/ BE too can apply. The applicants should have studied Maths at least in plus two.

The research scholars would get a monthly stipend of Rs 31,000 for the first two years. From the third year onwards, they would Rs 43,750 as monthly stipend.

Online entrance tests for both the programs have been scheduled at 10 am on 6 May. Meanwhile, there would be an interview round by the second half of June. There are centres in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in Kerala.

As separate tests for MSc and PhD program will be conducted at the same time, the applicants can attend only one. There is an application fees of Rs 500. Meanwhile, it is Rs 100 for candidates belonging to the scheduled categories and economically weaker sections and persons with disabilities.
