B Tech, M Tech courses in food processing and technology at NIFTEM; apply now

The food technology and processing sector is deemed a sunrise industry in India. The National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) that functions under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries aims to promote the food processing industry in the country. 

Here is an overview of the NIFTEM programmes:

Programmes

A) B Tech Food Technology and Management is a four-year course. There are 189 seats up for grabs. The selection would be based on the rank list of the Joint Entrance Examination– Main, 2023.

B) M Tech is a two-year programme; the five branches are:

• Food Technology and Management

• Food Process Engineering and Management

• Food Safety and Quality Management

• Food Supply Chain Management

• Food Plant Operations Management (18 x 5 = 90 seats)

C) MBA is a two-year course with double specialization and has 32 vacant seats. The candidates should mandatorily study the Food and Agri Business Management. Besides, they could choose from Marketing, Finance and International Business. 

D) PhD: Research in five branches like Agriculture and Environment Science (18 seats), Basic and Applied Science (9 seats), Food Business Management and Entrepreneurship Development (8 seats), Food Engineering (10 seats) and Food Science and Technology (13 seats).

How to apply

Online applications could be submitted via the website niftenm.ac.in until 15 June. There will be an application fee of Rs 1,000 for each form. Meanwhile, it is Rs 500 for Scheduled Caste/Tribe categories and persons with disabilities.
