Engineering/polytechnic teachers may apply for Quality Improvement Programme

Teachers of the AICTE-approved engineering and polytechnic colleges can submit online applications till July 21 for admission to PhD research or Master’s degree programme being conducted as part of the Quality Improvement Programme of the Union Government.

Who can apply

• The teachers of degree-level engineering and management institutions can apply for the PhD programmes.

• Teachers of polytechnic colleges can apply for M Tech, ME, PhD programmes. Those teaching at Management and Architecture institutions too can apply.

• Regular polytechnic teachers who possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering branch and one-year teaching experience can apply for the Master's programme.

• Regular teachers with degree-level institutions who possess a Master’s degree in a relevant engineering branch and three years of teaching experience can apply for the PhD research programme.

If the QIP institute stipulates any additional qualifications, the same should be adhered to.

Scholarship and annual grant

Those who enrol for the QIP stand to get monthly scholarship and annual grant as follows:

• Master’s programme (2 years): a monthly scholarship of Rs 9,000 and Rs 5,000 annual grant.

• PhD programme (3 years): a monthly scholarship of Rs 15,000 and Rs 15,000 annual grant. The course can be extended for an additional year under special circumstances. If so, the scholarship won’t be extended. They will get daily allowances and others as per the rules during the 60-day pre-PhD period.

The QIP centers include the Indian Institutes of Technology; National Instituted Of Technology; Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru; Indian Institutes of Management, and other premier universities/ higher-education institutions.
