KTU nod for 64 new engineering courses; more seats at 47 colleges

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Technological University (KTU) has decided to give sanction for 64 new engineering courses this academic year. Most of the new courses have been sanctioned for Computer Science and related fields.

The list of colleges where new courses will be started and the details on the seat hike in the existing courses have been handed over to the government.

The KTU has decided to start new courses at 64 engineering colleges and to hike the seats at 47 colleges. In addition to the existing courses in Bachelor of Technology, Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Design courses, Bachelor of Vocation (BVoc) courses will also be started from this academic year.

At present, BVoc has been sanctioned for one college in Cybersecurity. The new courses are VLSI Design and Technology in the emerging engineering field, and Bachelor of Interaction Design and Bachelor of Communication Design in the design field.

Specialised MBA courses such as Shipping and Logistics Management, and Logistics & Supply Chain Management too will be started this year.

New colleges

The university also decided to issue no-objection certificates for starting two new engineering colleges and to carry out inspection by experts at these colleges. The affiliation of 140 engineering colleges has been completed.
