4-year Integrated B.Ed: Apply for entrance test before July 19

Online applications are invited for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to the four-year integrated teacher training programme. Applications would be accepted until 11.30 pm on July 19. The programmes include BSc–B.Ed, BA–B.Ed and B.Com- B.Ed.

The entrance test will be conducted by the National Testing Agency for the National Council for Teacher Education. The date of exam would be announced later. The applicants are not just required to qualify the entrance test but also attend the admission/counselling procedures at the institutes they wish to join.

There are more than one-and-a-half lakh community support centres, all over India, in order to help the candidates submit applications.

Eligibility
Those who have passed the Plus-Two (Class 11) course can apply. There is neither minimum-marks requirement nor upper-age limit for application. However, the applicants are required to follow any unique guidelines regarding age, marks or year in which the candidates passed the Plus-Two course.

Pay fee online
Pay exam fee of Rs 1,300 online. The fee is Rs 1,000 for backward class categories; Rs 650 for Scheduled Caste/Tribe categories, persons with disabilities and transgender persons. There will be additional bank charges and Goods and Service Tax too.

Institutions in Kerala
This year, the admission will be made to 3,950 seats at 42 institutes including Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), central/state universities, Regional Institutes of Education and government colleges.

Reservation of seats are available as per the guidelines.
In Kerala, 50 BSc– B.Ed seats are available at the National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode. At the Central University, Kasargod, 50 seats are available for BA–B.Ed programme and another 50 seats for BSc–B.Ed programme. There are B.Com- B.Ed programmes too.

More institutes are likely to be part of this scheme from next year onwards.

Integrated B.Ed programme is likely to be mandatory for appointment to teaching posts from 2030 onwards.

Test in Malayalam
The computer-based test would have multiple-choice objective-type questions. The candidates can choose to write the exam in 133 languages including Malayalam and English. Questions in Malayalam will be available at the centres in Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Test centres
The list of 178 test centres is available on pages 58 to 61 on the information bulletin. Candidates should choose two centres from the list. The centres would be allowed only in the states where the candidates have permanent residence or are currently residing.

In Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur will have test centres.
