Kozhikode: The National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode, has initiated a slew of novel measures, including a Student Exchange Programme with the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad.
It has also started implementing the choice-based credit system, where students will have more freedom to choose subjects of their interest, and a new curriculum.
The aim is to develop the NIT into a Multi-Disciplinary Education and Research University (MERU) through the measures, which are part of efforts to implement the National Education Policy.
As per the student exchange programme with the IIT, nine BTech students from various departments of the NIT, Kozhikode, can study their final-year courses at the IIT, Hyderabad.
Revised curriculum
The revised curriculum for under-graduate, post-graduate and PhD courses will come into effect from this academic year onwards. The students will be extended an opportunity to study Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science as minor subjects.
Personality development
The NIT, Kozhikode, will sign an agreement with the Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education, Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (IMHANS), and the Heartfulness Education Trust (HET) with a focus on developing the personality of students.
The initiatives are being taken under the leadership of Prof Prasad, the Director of NIT, Kozhikode.
