4,451 vacancies in public sector banks; how to apply; read on

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has invited applications for the posts of Probationary Officer (PO), Management Trainee, and Specialist Officer (SO) in 11 public sector banks.

While there are 3,049 vacancies for the posts of PO/Management Trainee, the SO post has currently 1,402 vacancies. The notifications are issued separately.

Candidates can apply for the vacancies by logging on to the website www.ibps.in till August 21. The application fee is Rs 850. It is Rs 175 for applicants from the Schedule Caste/Tribe and Disabled categories.

The age limit is 20 to 30, though relaxation is allowed for reservation categories and ex-servicemen.

Those having bank accounts should have a CIBIL credit score of 650 points.

Probationary Officer

The minimum qualification is Degree.

One-hour Preliminary examination will be conducted in September/October. The Mains will be held in November. Both will be objective-type online tests. Interview for those short-listed will be held in January/February.

The examination centres for Prelims in Kerala are in Kannur, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Kochi, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Kochi, Pattanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram. For Mains, the centres are available only in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.

Specialist Officer

Posts & Vacancies: Marketing Officer (700 vacancies), Agricultural Field Officer (500), IT Officer (120), Rajbhasha Adhikari (Official Language Officer; 41), HR/Personal Officer (31), Law Officer (10).

The details regarding eligibility are given in the notification. Candidates can apply to any one post only. Computer knowledge is a must.

The preliminary online test will be conducted on December 30 and 31. Candidates may note there are negative marks for wrong answers. The Main examination will be held on January 28.

The examination centres for Prelims in Kerala are in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kochi, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur. The Main examination centres in Kerala are Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
