80% seats lying vacant in pvt ITIs; last dates for admission extended

Thodupuzha: Eighty percent of seats in the private ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) in the state are vacant.

As per the figures until September 11, students got admissions to only 20% of the combined seats of 471 ITIs so far.

However, admissions were issued to students in 20,889 seats (88.45%), out of the total 23,617 seats in 104 government ITIs. A total of 15,326 boys and 5563 girls have secured admission. There are 2728 seats lying vacant in the government ITIs.

The last dates for admission to government and private ITIs have been extended to September 16 and 23, respectively. The classes will start on September 25.

The figures relating to the 44 ITIs functioning under the Scheduled Caste/Tribe department are not available.
