Apply by December 28 for design courses at IICD, Jaipur

The Indian Institute of Crafts and Designs (IICD) at Jaipur has invited online applications for admission to various design courses. The website to apply is www.iicd.ac.in and the deadline is 4 pm on December 28. 

Programmes
Four-year B.Des: Eligibility to apply is a pass in plus-two (Class 12). There are specializations in the following six sections –

1.Soft material design (leather, paper, natural fibres and cloth)
2.Hard material design (metal, stone, wood, cane and bamboo)
3.Fired material design (porcelain, earthenware, stoneware and terracotta)
4.Fashion clothing design
5.Jewellery design
6.Crafts communication (graphics, photography, videography, animation and creative illustration)
Total seats: 180.
Two-year M.Des: Candidates with design/architecture degree can apply. The specializations are similar to BDes. Total seats: 90.

Three-year M.Voc: The same specializations as BDes. However, admission will be given to candidates having a degree in non-design subjects. Total seats: 90.

Students preparing for their eligibility exams will also be considered. Such candidates need to produce their certificates only within 90 days after the classes start.

Selection
There are 16 exam centres for the selection test, including Kochi. The test of two hours will take place on January 7, 2024 in two shifts – morning and evening.

The exam has two sections – General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test (35 per cent marks) and Material, Colour & Concept Test (45 per cent marks). 
An interview for 20 percent marks will take place after the exam on January 7 itself. Candidates can present their own creations at the interview.
The selection list will be published on January 12. Fees have to be paid before January 31. 

Fees

The application fee is Rs 1750. For NRIs, it is Rs 3500.
The course fee for candidates who were selected last year were as follows: 
Semester tuition fee: Rs 1,30,000
Admission fee: Rs 8000
Total fee for the first semester, including deposits and food at hostel: Rs 2,41,000.
For each subsequent semester, the fee is Rs 2,15,000. The fee is the same for all programmes.
Fees are charged at a special rate for NRIs.
