The Tata Institutes of Social Sciences (TISS) will now admit students for its post graduate programmes through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-PG) for admission from the academic year 2024-25 onwards.
The institute held the admission process by conducting an own entrance test called TISS NET. Meanwhile, admissions to MA in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations (HRM & LR) and Organisation Development, Change and Leadership (ODCL) will be based on CAT, a national level management entrance test.
The abrupt decision to migrate to a new system has caught the aspiring candidates off guard as registration for the CAT examination this year ended in September. The move has also drawn some harsh criticism from the student factions at the institute, which have termed it arbitrary and unjust, while also expressing concerns over its impact on the TISS identity and campus culture.
The institute, however, has clarified that it is also exploring various other options for admission to the HRM and ODCL programmes. The CUET-PG test is slated to be held in May next year. Entry to the undergraduate programmes in the institute has shifted to the CUET-PG system at the beginning of this academic year.
